First Lady Double Standard
The First Ladies of the United States. They are gracious, beautiful, and intelligent. We have seen the First Ladies of the United States at formal State Dinners to Rose Garden Events. First Ladies are a US staple. They are often role models for young girls to follow. However, as you sit here and read this right now there seems to be a First Lady double standard. I will explain how.
Unless you have been living under a rock these past four to five years you probably know that Donald Trump is the US President. Like him or not, Trump is one of the most controversial presidents in modern-day American history. Many Americans love Trump. Many Americans despise him. There are very few people in between. This is what has created a divide in America. This divide has reached all of the way up to the First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump.
A recent poll conducted shows that about 94% of the mainstream media is biased against President Donald Trump. You may be asking how this relates to the topic at all. Well, the mainstream media has been very biased against First Lady Melania Trump.
Melania Trump is beautiful, kind, and intelligent. If Melania was a liberal or even married to a Democrat, the mainstream media would adore her and give her the utmost praise. But since she is married to Donald Trump things are different.
The media has attacked Melania on so many things. From her accent to praying the Lord’s Prayer before her husband’s rally. The media has even attacked her on her stunning White House Christmas decorations. They even referred to them as many steps below what Michelle Obama did.
When Michelle Obama decorated the White House for Christmas the media loved it all. They called it spectacular and stunning. Some even called it heart-warming and ground-breaking. Instead of receiving the same praise from the media, Melania Trump received very harsh backlash. The media claimed that the decorations were ugly and that she did a terrible job. That is what you call a double standard to me.
Vanity Fair columnist, Kenzie Bryant, wrote in 2017 that Melania finally got to work in the White House when she unveiled her decorations. However, this same reporter and much of the mainstream media refused to cover when Michelle Obama hosted lavish banquets and parties at the White House practically every month. They refused to cover when Michelle Obama vacationed all over the globe using taxpayer dollars. The media failed to cover that the Obamas shut down streets in NYC when they wanted a “date night” on Broadway. This is the double standard.
The mainstream media seems to adopt liberal women instead of all women. We have seen it time and time again how conservative women are censored by the media just for their beliefs. Think about this. Melania Trump has not yet grazed one magazine cover since becoming First Lady almost four years ago. Meanwhile, Michelle Obama has been on dozens of covers in her eight years.
I can go on and on all day about this terrible double standard. But I would be here all day. The fact of the matter is that the mainstream media and some prominent Democrats such as Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton dislike the fact that some women are conservative. That is the climate that we live in today.
